About Us
Danceworks Studio has been teaching dance in North Bristol since 2005. The Principal, Miss Liesel has over 25 years of teaching experience and started dancing in South Africa at 6 years old. She established Liesel's Danceworks Studio in 1997 with only 17 pupils and 8 years later had to bid a sad farewell to hundreds of members when moving to the UK.
She has competed nationally and internationally, in solo and group categories in Dance, Gymnastics and Sport Aerobics and represented South African at the 10th World Gymnaestrada in Berlin, Germany 1995 and was a finalist in the Planet Dance 2000 World Championship in Singapore.
Since settling in Bristol, Liesel has been actively involved in the dance and fitness industry, furthering her qualifications as a ZUMBA® fitness Instructor, competing in annual Dance and Cheerleading Championships (UDO World Street Dance/British Dance & Cheer) and teaching in her own studios, local gyms, community centres and schools.
Liesel trained is trained in Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Street Dance and Hip-hop, Cheer, ZUMBA® fitness, Gymnastics, Sport Aerobics, Step and Body Conditioning.
Ballet Bunnies is a passion of Miss Liesel, to introduce dance to babies and toddlers from just 18 months old. Young pupils develop a love for movement and music from an early age, dancing with colourful scarves, ribbons, wands and pom-poms, with a parent by their side.
At Danceworks Studio, children are taught in a relaxed, safe, friendly and professionally environment. Pupils have opportunity to perform at school fairs and local events, such as the Bradley Stoke, Filton or Yate festivals. We hold an annual Medal Day in which pupils perform on stage for an adjudicator and audience and are awarded a medal or trophy and a report on their performance. This is the highlight of the year and enjoyed by pupils and their families. Participation is optional.
Classes are full of energy and rhythm, teaching new technical skills to the latest current dance hits. Choreography is fun, original and suitable for all ages and abilities, Beginners to Advanced. Improve coordination, fitness and musicality fitness all whilst meeting new friends! Each session is structured to build confidence, develop a love of dance, improve skills and a nurture a desire to perform, with emphasis on enjoyment and team work.
